VENICE, LA Fishing Report
11/24/99
Another outstanding week of Fishing and Hunting in
Venice, LA. The low river is still producing some huge
stringers of Speckled Trout. My clients had 50 trout all
over 3 lbs. last week. The biggest 10 were all over 5lbs!
Huge trout for the river and for November! Best baits:
Purple and White Saltwater Assassins or Purp/Chrt H&H
Cocahoe Minnows. Reds are also hitting these with a little
tip of fresh shrimp. Still plenty of flounder, striped bass,
and white trout every day, too.
DUCKS AND GEESE are EVERYWHERE!!! This has
been the best season I have seen, ever! I've hunted 5 times
and had no problem killing a limit each time. Made a hunt
down river with Jim Rabb and 6 of us killed 36 ducks by
9:00 in foggy, still, conditions. Terrible duck hunting
weather but we have so many ducks, it doesn't matter! All
big ducks: greys, widgeon, Pintails, and some Mallards.
The geese are really showing up around the main pass area.
Call for good duck hunting dates and ask about my second
split special. Hunt ducks on day 1, fish big trout and reds
on day 2. $199 per person includes everything including
lodging! Good times Guaranteed!! Happy Turkey Day and
I'll see ya' on the water!
Thanks for all the E-Mails and Keep em' coming!

The fishing is red HOT! Big trout have showed up and I've been catching limits almost every day of trout up to 5 lbs. The average trout has been 3 lbs! We had a big group of doctors down over the weekend for their annual fishing rodeo and caught plenty of reds and specks.
Some big flounder are also showing up. The fish are close and we are only running 5 minutes from the marina, somedays. Best baits: Purple/white Bass Assassin and Blk/chrt Riverside grubs on 3/8 oz. jigheads. Fish are 14-22 ft. right now eating mostly shrimp.
I've seen so many ducks and geese the last couple of days, it's got me extremely excited about the prospects of the coming season. I still have an opening for 2 hunters or 4 fishermen on Nov. 13 and 14. This is opening weekend of duck season and, trust me, there are more ducks than I've seen in 15 years!
Call or E-mail me for additional info or if you want to book opening weekend. ou owe it to yourself to experience the Dazzling Mississippi River Delta.
There is No Place else like it!! Take someone fishing and I'll see ya on the water!

Well, my new 22 ft. Pathfinder Bay Boat is here and just in time. My 175 Yamaha will get us to the fish in a hurry! And the fishing is red HOT! We are catching everything from Tuna, Tarpon, and Marlin to Reds and Trout. The inside fishing continues to be unreal! My customers have been enjoying 80-100 trout days for most of the last week. Some fish up to 5 lbs. Plenty in the 2-3 lb. range. Look for this to last thru the fall!
The Big reds are in the storm minnows again after the storm tide we had. We released over 50 on Saturday. Best colors are still Purple and Chrt. Saltwater Assassin, Rattlin Spots, and Super Spook Jr.'s. Those big reds really blow up on a topwater! DUCKS are showing up BIG TIME. Saw lots of Teal this weekend. Pintails, Widgeon, and Greys are showing up too!

Well, it has finally happened. The river has dropped to below 4 ft. in New Orleans and it's Green in Venice. The reds and specks are making their way up the passes and we should start seeing some great catches, close to the marina, any day. We are running 25-30 minutes right now for some awesome action on specks and reds. The bull reds are really abundant right now and some 6 lb. specks are still coming in.
I've been using a Super Spook Jr. alot with good success as well as a riverside grub under a cork. Live croakers are the best for the big trout, if you can get them. Bluewater is way out but tuna and dolphin are still around the rigs and floaters. Plenty of Tarpon in the Delta. I know Brandon and Brent Ballay have both caught several the last few days. Capt. Tom Mckinney had one last week that Coon, on the Mr. Todd, estimated around 200 lbs.
We are now booking Teal Hunts and Duck hunts. Call for details.!! Give us a call if you want to experience the "Real" Mississippi River Delta for yourself.
